The story of a Maine lobsterman's special bucket and the people who share its adventures
A Fine Orange Bucket is a read-aloud picture book for ages 4 to 10. It begins in a marine store, where a lobsterman discovers his orange bucket. It follows the adventures of the special bucket along the Downeast Maine coast, through treacherous waters and into tidal pools. The bucket’s fellow adventurers include the lobsterman and his sternman, and a family on a sailing vacation.
The story introduces youngsters to the vocabulary of lobster fishing and sailing, as well as a variety of sea creatures. The book includes a glossary of special words for things in and on the water. Jill Finsen’s whimsical paintings complement the story.
